About Me

Dr Simon Kennedy is an electronics engineer from Melbourne, Australia. He has experience in a wide range of electronic engineering areas. He has a background as an analog integrated circuit designer but also has experience with FPGA, PCB, Embedded Software. He is currently the System Architect and Engineering Lead at Hemideina.

Simon completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Melbourne in 2011. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) with Honors and a Bachelor of Science (Physics). He worked at Grey Innovation as a Hardware Engineer designing a number of electronic devices for biomedical and sensor applications.

Dr Kennedy completed his PhD at Monash University, Clayton
in 2018. He joined the Biomedical Integrated Circuits and Sensors Laboratory within the Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering in 2014. During this research, Simon designed a number of analog integrated circuits including image sensors. His thesis was entitled Fully Integrated 3D Image Sensor Systems using SPADs and Photodiodes which was supported by the Defence Science Institute and Defence Science Technology.

After completing his PhD, Dr Kennedy worked for Blackmagic Design in Port Melbourne as a Hardware Engineer in the camera team. Here he worked in the sensors group analysing perfomance of the image sensors and optimising their performance. He then worked as a Senior Electronics Engineer at Planet Innovation in Box Hill.

Simon’s publications are available on his Google Scholar page.
